Executive Leadership Graduate Certificate Program

The nonprofit sector is increasing in scope and in number of organizations. The National Council of Nonprofit Associations reports that there are currently 837,000 nonprofits in the United States, all of which need trained leaders to carry out their organizations mission.

Nonprofits are an important part of the economy and operate in major sectors that include health care, education, social services, arts, recreation, business / professional associations and religion. Nonprofits serve many societal needs and they are important for the implementation of government programs and initiatives at the local, state and federal level. There are many challenges as well as opportunities in the nonprofit sector and leaders of today's and tomorrow's organizations must be prepared for change and complexity.

This Graduate Certificate Program is designed to prepare participants for executive leadership positions in nonprofit organizations. The curriculum includes specialized training in governance/ leadership of nonprofit organizations, policy/ decision making and planning functions of local, state and national nonprofit organizations, fundraising and risk management. The program is designed for working professionals and requires the completion of five on-line courses. In order to be eligible for this program applicants must have at least one year of work experience with a nonprofit organization; have attained at least a 2.5 undergraduate GPA; and must not be currently enrolled in a degree seeking program.
